Fiona Lang - Curate

Hi, I’m Fiona. Originally from the Borders in Scotland I grew up going to my local Church of Scotland parish church where my parents were both Elders. They were both committed Christians and I’m sure that commitment rubbed off on me as I began to hear a call to ministry during my teenage years. I waited a number of years before pursuing that call, joining the British Army, moving to Plymouth, and having my son. It was only when I was made redundant from one role that God gave me the courage to pursue the calling He has had on my life and so, just before the pandemic, I began the journey in the Church of England which will lead to my ordination in Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 28th June this year. It’s terrifying and exciting but also humbling and I hope that during my curacy I will be able to show others how He has filled me with so much joy and peace and given me the courage to put Him in charge.
I enjoy serving God through using my skills to help others and you’ll often find me in front of a computer trying to create something or work something out. I’m self-supporting, so alongside my ministry I’m a chaplaincy Pastoral Worker with Aggies where I provide pastoral support for members of the Royal Navy. I’m also in charge of social media content for the Southwest Ministry Training Course.
